"Real meaning of life...stuff" - Daniel Jackson

Here’s an “article” from a site called Everystudent.com.

The author makes the point that because you can’t assemble a watch by throwing all the parts into a bag and shaking them and allowing “random” chance to throw them together in a way that works correctly, evolution must not have happened.

You know, he’s right.  How could I have been so blind?

But now that the scales have fallen from my eyes, I can take it several steps further.  When I walk along the beach and find a pebble that is perfectly shaped to the size of my hand to throw, and it skips across the water perfectly – I’ve always assumed that it was formed that way by the “random” forces of erosion and tide.  Now I know that God forms each and every perfect skipping stone just for my amusement.  What a wondrous God!

Also, when I was growing up, there was an oak tree near my house that was the perfect climbing tree.  There was a branch that was just far enough off the ground for me to be able to reach it with a little effort and skill, and another branch just enough higher and so on and so on until I was about fifteen feet off the ground…but I couldn’t get any higher after that.  Good thing, to because if I’d fallen from any greater a height, I might have gotten seriously hurt.  We just happen to have had another perfect climbing tree next to our house where my kids are growing up.  God must have formed these climbing trees specially designed for kids to climb.  It makes no sense that the “random” forces of gravity, wind, tree genetics, etc would form a perfect climbing tree.

Of course, before this revelation, we hired tree pruners to come and they cut off the lowest-hanging branch and a few others that made it perfect to climb.  We didn’t know, but we thwarted God’s will!  Holy cow!  That’s probably why the plum tree in the front yard died…smitten down by the will of an angry God! (not the “random” act of tree funguses and carpenter ants)

And that flu that we get every year, despite our body’s perfectly designed immune system?  Well, the obvious answer is that God creates a new strain every year, perfectly designed to infect us and make us sick and possibly die (or not, according to his will, Amen)

Wow.  What a busy, busy God.  AND he has to make it all follow certain “laws” to fool us into thinking that it is due to natural laws so that scientists will stop believing in him and go to hell.  Not to mention all of the things like having humans exhibit evolutionarily extraneous traits (like human embrios having gills that disappear later in development, or having adult humans have an appendix, etc)

And also, he has to make everything appear to follow natural laws so that when he creates a “miracle” (like statues of Mary weeping blood), we’ll stand up and give it the attention it deserves.

No wonder he’s too busy to cure my Mother-in-law’s cancer, or stop ethnic cleansing in Darfur.  I guess we’ll just have to rely on science, innate human compassion and our own ingenuity and reasoning to solve those problems…oh wait…we just invalidated all of that.

Oooops…guess we’re stuck waiting for God to get around to it.
