Ernie’s 3-D Pancakes has an entry about how the Vatican is enforcing copyrights against all of the pope’s words going back before he was elevated to the Papacy.
He points out that this is going to essentially erase everything the Pope has ever said and every will say from the major media, and will make the papacy disappear.
Possibly true…but if it is, it will also have the effect of possibly erasing every inconvenient issuance that he has ever made…
…and wouldn’t that be a blessing to “infallibility”.
Besides, the church can still disseminate its propaganda…it just can’t be quoted by anyone countering it (without the permission of the Vatican)…so the “faithful” will get their ears full, but the skeptical could be disarmed.
If used this way, it would be proof that the “Word of God” can’t stand up to the “Light of Truth”.
Of course, the Times article points out the lunacy of selling the word of God…
Kind of gives new meaning to the term “The Great Commission”.
