I just ran home to get my sparring equipment and grab a bite of lunch before heading off to the next Kung Fu class, and what do I see, waving proudly in the breeze less than a block from my house?

     A huge red flag, with a white “W” in the middle, outlined in a line of blue.

     The flag was flying from one of those door-side sconses...you know, where patriotic people fly their American Flag?

     Part of me felt sad, and then all of me felt happy.  Maybe the Reactionary Hate Mongers have stopped camping on the flag as a symbol of all that is right an good in their eyes.  Maybe, instead of it symbolizing oppression, repression, and God wanting us to use our right to keep and bear arms to keep the huddled masses huddled...it could maybe, you know, go back to symbolizing the ideals of our country?

     Is this a harbinger of the possibility that I could have my flag back?  Or is it wishful thinking?

     Either way, I get to kick ass today, so my mood is elevated.

[Editor's note:  It just kept bugging me about that flag.  I kept thinking...”there's got to be another explination.”...so I asked for a second opinion while at class.  A couple people shook their heads, but a couple of football fans suggested that it might be out for the Michigan/Wisconsin game tonight.

Since Eden Prairie-ites, are, as a gestalt, more avid about sports than they are about politics...I would guess that's the reason...I really really want that to be the reason.  If somehow you find out that's not it, don't tell me.  I'm more comfortable thinking it's a football thing.]
