Spent most of my time last night fighting a teenager who had been out for a few months with an injury. He's a LOT taller than me, a LOT faster than me, and he can kick over my head as easily as the average person could kick me in the knee.
He was feeling his oats a little bit, and not in a lot of practice with control. Drilled my under the armpit with a side-kick. Knocked the wind out of me. A couple of head shots that knocked me to the ground, including a reverse hook kick. My neck is sore, and I've got several scrapes on my arms from the velcro on his safety gear.
He busted his dad's face up with a punch, too (minor nosebleed, cut on cheek). His dad's in the sparring class, and is one of the biggest guys I've ever fought.
I don't think it's a permenant thing. He's usually got pretty good control...just out of practice and trying too hard to score after too long out.
Glad I was wearing my face-cage, though.
When I'm over this cold, I'll be in a lot better position to fight this kid. Until then, the chest congestion makes me too much of a non-starter to pull it off.
