I'm listening to MPR, and;
Hy Berman, Professor Emaritus of History at the University of Minnesota said that Eugene McCarthy would not have been a good President because he was a Renaissance Man who had too many interests, and a good president needs to have the sole focus on public policy…
Hello? Thomas Jefferson?
Oh, their other guest just addressed that.
What a dumb thing to say…the idea that someone could be HARMED in their work as a leader by intellectual curiosity is just ridiculous.
But if that is true, then I guess we have the greatest leadership ever in the White House right now, as we have a president famous for his lack of intellectual curiosity, and his incredibly focused public policy...so focused that no other views cloud his vision.
“Liberal Intellectual Elite” my ass.
