Did G. Gordon Liddy really say that the term “neocon“ is an anti-Semitic hate term? REally? Update: Link Fixed! Thanks Karen for bringing it to my attention.
So you can’t dislike the Neoconservative agenda without being Anti-Semitic?
Um…wow.
Is this a bad time to mention that the Neocon ideology is inherently hostile to democracy and the sovereignty of the individual?
While it is true that Leo Strauss, the so-called “godfather of the neoconservative movement” was Jewish, and that much of his philosophy has some of its roots in Jewish scholarship, it is a real stretch to say that resistance to the neocon ideology and dislike of the neoconservative “cabal” constitutes anti-Semitism.
That’s crazy talk. That’s like saying that objecting to smog is a hate crime against auto industry workers. Actually, never mind. That sounds just like our man Liddy.
I might add that Pat Buchanan made at least one public statement about how President Bush was being mislead by group of neocons into ill-advised action in Iraq. I notice that he has not been accused of anti-Semitism by any Right-wing pundits.
G. Gordon Liddy : How has he not been given a “Douchbag of Liberty” award? Seriously.
Another update: I just was wondering Limbaugh's caller said, and Limbaugh agreed, that the Wellstone memorial was “exploiting death”. I don't see how, when the man was so clearly political, and so clearly a political competitor, and so clearly passionate about advancing the progressive cause...how could you NOT make the speeches made at his memorial to honor him? How could you NOT talk about what he believed, and what he would have wanted? And how could it NOT be political?
So: The Wellstone memorial was “exploiting death”. What then, do you call the macabre “Month of National Mourning” for Reagan? As far as I can see, it was the same thing, only magnified to monstrous proportions, on a mile-wide bandwidth. they did everything but make his corpse dance on strings.
