I'd like to introduce you to Kane.

He belongs to John.  You may have noticed John's comments around here lately.

Kane has a mysterious affliction that has him in tremendous pain.

It might also be killing him.

For sure, its killing John's pocketbook, and he doesn't even have a diagnosis yet.

If any of you have any information about a charity or organization that could possibly help, please post it here in the comments, and Or in the comments section of John's blog.

Also, John would gratefully accept personal donations.

Thanks Teresa. It means a lot. Right now I am trying to get my other dog to eat, but poor guy is obviously upset. I've never seen him NOT scarf down his food immediately and no we are entering hour five of him staring at his food and looking sad. I really suspect that there is a lot more going on inside the head of that dog (and dogs in general) than we know or even suspect.

You should have seen him last night. Even in pain and scared, when they put Kane on the triage cart, Kane leaned over and extended his head as far as he could to give me a big lick on my face. I cried like a was six years old.

He is out of surgery and doing well thus far. We are waiting for tomorrow to see if he has pain sensation in his rear legs. But bottom line is the vet was able to remove the piece of bone that was causing his spinal cord to bulge. I will go to meet with the neurologist who operated on him tomorrow, and I will also be meeting with the billing department tomorrow. So wish me luck, cross your fingers, or pray- whichever works best for you. ;-)

BTW, we got some great news. Kane woke up this morning and he could feel his feet. Also we have received a couple donations. If our goal was to raise $1,000 we would be over 10% of the way there. ;-) Thanks, since I know some of those who donated found me via your blog.

John,

I'm glad to hear it. Let's hope for a full recovery and a ripe doggy old age.
