Colin "anthrax" Powell has endorsed Barak Obama.

What next?

He was there at the precipitous push to get us into Iraq, and now he'll be there for the precipitous push to get us out?

Dude changes direction quicker than a raquetball.

And speaking of things that change direction suddenly...I've mentioned that I'm disappointed in McCain, right?  He missed the boat with that "Joe the fake Plumber" guy.

The old McCain would have gone with someone more like "Sheriff Billy McGee".

His endorsement is, well, nice, I suppose...but this is still the guy who sold the UN on BushCo's ginned-up case for war and then later admitted that he KNEW it was BS but pressed for it out of "loyalty". Loyalty. But apparently not loyalty to America or the American people. I have never understood why anyone regards this man as credible in any way.

Rick,

"I have never understood why anyone regards this man as credible in any way."

Because he is such a MAVERICK! LOL!

To be sure, he has a checkered history. Watch the Republicans, who have been insisting that their objections to Obama have nothing to do with race suddenly say that Powell's endorsement is all about race...

...personally, I think that it's all about how he compromised his integrity, put his credibility on the line, and did what needed to be done for the good of the team, because even though he knew he was doing something wrong he hoped it was for good ends and they used him and threw him under the bus and pissed on his efforts...

That COULD get a guy to thinkin' fer sher.

If the Republicans do what you say, then it'll explain perfectly why Colin Powell switched sides.

He "took one for the team" for sure, but I don't think he expected anything from it (at least publicly). They used his good reputation because they (Bush, Cheney, Rice, etc.) had none themselves. I think he knew full well what the results were going to be.

Mark,

I think he expected to be part of a competent strategy that would result in a stable Iraq.

He didn't get it. Instead, he was immediatly neutralized and isolated after he has served his completely superficial purpose, and the advantages he secured for his administration were frivilously squandered.

Also, I don't think he has terribly bad odds of getting a cabinet appointment. I think his odds were good before and they are most likely marginally better now.

Touche'

I think he's a very good replacement for Rice.
