"Sciencism" - The radical, irrational and eleitist position that only things that follow scientific rules can be called science.

"Fundamentalist Sciencism" - The strident and voiciferace insistance that only things that follow scientific rules can be called science.

Well, I mean the historic meaning of "scientism" when I use it. :-)

What brought this on? Who came up with those terms? I'd love to read their thoughts on the subject - I need a good laugh today.

ER,

Unfortunatly, the Intelligent Design weirdos seem to have pulled the term out from under you. :-)

Mark,

Those are the connotative meanings I have gleaned from their use by Intelligent Design advocates...

So if you need a good laugh, just do a Google search for "Expelled" or "intelligent Design" and read the comments of whatever comes up. You'll find it. You'll find it used interchageably with "Atheitism" and "Fundamentalist Atheism" Also nonsensical terms. :-)

Re, "seem to have pulled the term out from under you"
