Folding, spindeling, and mutilating lauguage for fun since Aug, 2004

I have a six CD changer in my car.  Yet, it seems like for the last few weeks, every single person who gets in the car, no matter what is playing, says "Is this the only CD you have in here?"

So I'm making some changes.

Slot number four WAS Buffy the Vampire Slayer: "Once More with Feeling"'.  It has been changed for Indigenous: Chasing the Sun

The slot number three change-out was in honor of Conrad Zero, because I know it will make him happy:

Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits was changed out for Revolver Modele: Discotheque Crypt.

More changes are likely on the way.

I'm about to really date myself here. The only one of those I would recognize by listening to it is Bruce (can't go wrong with the Boss!). I used to be able to identify most current songs.

Hi Neil,

Indigenous is an R&B-type band. Revolver Modele has a serious 80's punk sound. everyone knows the "boss", and the "Once More with Feeling is the soundtrack to the musical episod of the TV show "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer". It is deliberatly cheesy show tunes.

Bruce Springsteen has a "Greatest Hits", as in Plural? I'm stunned...and more than a little pleased that you changed it out. Good call with Revolver Modele. They also put on a great live show.

I just took all my CD's out of my car in a spring-cleaning frenzy and will be restocking soon. I'll let you know what makes the list. No, there won't be any Bruce Springsteen.

There was 1 "Dicotheque Crypt" CD by Revolver Modele left at the Uptown Cheapo but it should also be at Best Buy locations. Wherever you don't find it, ask the store to order it. :)

Cheers,
Karrie

Conrad,

Bruce Springsteen's songs have a certain resonance with people from a particular time and place and world view/experience that you just don't seem to relate to, or that is over-ridden by your distaste for his musical style (even I have to admit that the '80's pop influence is more glaring now, in the light of time).

It is not essential that you understand.

Although I am puzzled by Neil's affection, as I would think that Bruce's philosophical foundation would be completely incompatable with Neil's.

Oh, and yes, I COULD be more pedantic pretentious, in case your wondering. I'm just pressed for time. :-)

I listen to lots of different things, but I obviously don't make it a criteria that I agree with the worldview of every artist - otherwise my iPod might be empty! I've always loved the Beatles, but didn't care for much of Lennon's personal life or views. Bruce is in my top 25 list, probably. My wife is the bigger fan.

Neil,

I know, I just had to nudge you a little about it. :-)
