After the UU shooting, at least one more crazy has found a target for his confusion and hate.

One of my friend's mothers is a contact person for their local UU.

She recently got a threatening letter that says something about giving them 70 weeks to rid themselves of "abominations" or face the consequences.

Sigh.  Hopefully, this person is just a coward and a liar, and won't carry through on his promises.

If not, he should be prepared for resistance, as Orcinus points out:  People should not confuse pacifism with doormatism.

And maybe one or two people will realize that the real purpose of eliminationist rhetoric is NOT humor.

And Ann Coulter is not funny.

Also, I just realized that if Dr. Who were religious, he'd be a Unitarian:

"Sweet...maybe. Passionate...I suppose, but don't ever mistake that for nice"

It is tragic that there are folks in this world who aren't willing to leave earthly punishments to the government, and divine punishments to God in the afterlife. If the U.U.'s are guilty of abominations, why can't God take care of that problem without the help of letter writing nuts? Well he can, but the point is letter writing nuts don't appear to think so.

BTW: fun economic times, yesterday someone stole the cat. converter off my car while it sat at the mechanic's shop. If they come and try to steal the copper out of my A/C (the local news is covering this trend) they better watch out. I am neither a pacifist nor a doormat. ;-) That and if they saw Lucius at 130lbs charging and growling (like he often does when he sees strangers through the fence) they just might have to buy a new pair of underwear.

John,

That totally sucks. I remember when I was a kid in the early-mid '70's and people stealing cas was common, and the '80s when stealing copper was common.

Fun times.

Yeah, Im not much one for killing or maiming people over property. Now stopping them stealing it, sure. But I don't agree with harming people over things that can be replaced. Not that I don't sometimes forget that...but fortunatly my memory improves with practice. :-)

What aggravates me is that when they steal copper from your A/C the most they will make is $35 or so dollars. What it costs you? No A/C in 100 degree heat for a few days or more and over $4,000 for a new system.

John,

That would, indeed, be most aggrivating. Especially in SC. Here, where the heat usually tops out at max 100 (although one summer saw several 105 degree days)a couple of day per summer, that's probably not as big of a deal.

Is the mechanic's shop going to relace your cat.converter since it got kincked at their shop?

BTW, what are you converting the cats too? Something useful, like dogs? ;-)

Sorry, I know that was awful.

Indeed he will. He is a good friend of ours as well as our mechanic.

If only the cats could be converted to dogs.
