Picture hearing the following statement from a member of the opposite sex:

“I love you so much.  I’ve denied myself everything I want in this world, and given up all of my selfish desires just to get your attention.  I’m willing to do whatever I think you want.  I've got a book with everything you've ever said in it, as well as everything that anyone else has ever claimed you said, and I'm only going to let myself think things that exactly agree with what's in this book.  I’ll live for you, die for you, suffer for you, hate people I think you don’t like in your name…I’ll beat anyone up that you tell me to.  I’ll even hate whoever you tell me to hate.  In fact, if I think you want me to kill someone, I will.  And now, in return, you have to love me and let me come live with you.”

Now, imagine you’re God, and you hear this millions of times a day.
