Adventure Boy is home from school today.  Classes were cancelled because of an alleged threat against the High School.

So far, that's all we know.  Probably, that's all we're going to know for a while.

He's downstairs working on some homework right now.

When I told him he was indignant, and a little outraged.

Rocky's not happy.  When he was a kid, his school was closed several times due to bomb threats.  Looks like we're headed into the '70s again whether we like it or not.

Adventure Boy is probably one of the FEW kids who IS indignant and outraged. Most of them are probably quite pleased, and a few are thinking, "A bomb threat can shut school down for a day? Cool! What's the number?"

Kristi,

I don't know what it is...he certainly didn't inherit the "school spirit" gene from me, and as a monster nerd, you would think he'd hate his school, but he doesn't. He's very proud of his school and his fellow students. He brags about the football team and the speech kids and the chess team...you name it.

The other day we mentioned the name of some other town and he pipes up "They beat us at LaCrosse. They are evil".

I'd question his nerd credentials...but he spent the morning completing the homework that's due Monday.

Well, it's too bad that he's missing out on school, which he obviously enjoys!

It's also too bad that someone felt the need to make a likely prank bomb threat. How rude!

On the other hand, it's better for them to send the kids home than to keep them there, just in case the threat might be real, I think.

I'm sure that he's got plenty to do to keep him busy, and if not, then it's time to get him started reading whatever it is he hasn't read yet; there must be some book on your shelf that he's yet to devour ;)

Karen,

It's not that he was upset about not having to go to school, he was outraged that someone would threaten his school.

Obviously, any red-blooded American boy likes to have an extra free day now and then.
