How do they keep the myth of a “scientific controversy” on the subject of Global Climate Change going?

     Easy.

They cheat. (link to Bad Astronomy entry.  More about Deutsch, and his efforts to censor NASA scientists)

See, if you keep the government scientists who are actually trying to get people to look at the problem silent, and let the fringe wackos do the talking…it is more difficult for the public at large to see that the “controversy” is actually a few nut-jobs and a lot of smoke-and-mirrors.

Surprise, surprise.  Corrupt Bush Administration cronies cooking the books to benefit their corporate masters.  Color me shocked.

It's almost as though they are following some sort of coherant strategy.  Like, maybe the one outlined in The Republican War on Science  by Chris Mooney.

It's the same anti-information, anti-reality bent described in The Price of Loyalty about Paul O'Niel's experience inside the administration.  It's the same approach to denying the facts and the reality on the ground described by Richard Clark in his testimony before the 9/11 commission.

It's the same sort of three-card-monty approach as the accounting practices of Enron.

As long as they can keep the balls in the air, they will.
