"Real meaning of life...stuff" - Daniel Jackson

This is absolutly fascinating; seeing how the right wing rallies around and supports “Jeff Gannon“.  The man is a huge slice of everything they claim to stand against and yet:  here we are.  We sit and watch them self-satirize without a hint of concious irony.

Biblical Christianity asserts that since the “liberal media” and "liberal" congress-critters want to know how Jeff Gannon got access to the White House, the Bush administration should declare open season on the backgrounds and affiliations of all journalists.

(In case you were lucky enough to be living under a rock, and don’t know who Jeff Gannon is, he is apparently an un-credentialed reporter using a fake name and with a seedy past that would make him susceptible to blackmail, and thus a security risk)

This is exactly the kind of “logic” we have come to expect from the radical right; because someone who does not meet the criteria for getting into the white house got in; we should persecute the people who meet the requirements to get in.

Further, the Biblical Christianity site urges the review of everything that any White House press corps reporter has ever written in order to ferret out any hint of bias.

Once again, because “liberals” are insisting that certain basic standards be adhered to in order to maintain a free and independent press; we are somehow said to be giving carte blanche to the persecution of the main stream media.

The rules for hard press passes help guarantee security, and help insure that the press is free and independent.  It helps to keep the partisan hacks out on the fringe where they belong.  Many administrations have found this useful in maintaining something called “credibility”.

A free and independant press is supposed to make sure that the American people get real information…not the sort of, pre-digested pabulum you get from a “journalist” like “Jeff Gannon” who simply transcribed White House press releases and ask leading, softball questions that advance ideological propaganda rather than inform.  It's supposed to help people keep an eye on their government and make sure it's doing the right thing.

And when it fails to do what it’s supposed to, the people have a right to demand to know why.
