"Real meaning of life...stuff" - Daniel Jackson

Looking for the perfect year-end gift for the guy/girl who has everything?

What better than a book that will prepare them to lose it all over the course of the next three-and-a-half years?

ORDER YOURS TODAY!  (no really, you probably should - it looks rather thick and tedious, and it might take you a while to work through it.  You've only got about three and a half years, and the clock is ticking...)

[Update...I just noticed, that you can order it for free.  I've downloaded it.  I might be putting the Jack Hyles skinner-box character-building course on hold....]

Revelation 22:16-20
22:16 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star!” 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say: “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wants it take the water of life free of charge. 22:18 I testify to the one who hears the words of the prophecy contained in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 22:19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book. 22:20 The one who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus

This guy claimes to be one of the two witnesses fortold in the book of Revelations.

In otherwords, he believes that he will testify for the next 3.5 years, and then he and another "witness" will be killed in the streets of Jerusalem, resurrected after three days, and then caught up into the rapture along with the 1400 (or whatever the number is) saints.

This will begin the "Tribulation" that will jump-start the 1000-year reign of God on earth.

So, since he is claiming a role fortold in the Gospel, he gets around the prohibition of "adding to or subtracting from" the Gospel.

Do you have the chapter and verse handy for the fortold prophets?

Rev. Chapter 11 verses 3-13

"And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. 6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. 8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. 11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. 13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven."

Teresa - Is that quote correct? I'm asking because the tense of the verses changes from future to past starting with verse 11. It reads very oddly. Is this one of those writings to which God gave his stamp of approval? Wasn't there a proof-reader/editor back then?

Can't wait to see your posts on the book...

Mark,

As correct as on can get coming from the Bible. I wouldn't swear to it's exact vercaity on a...uh...you know...Bible... or anything.

I think God had a hard time finding good editors, although, Lord knows, many seem to have tried.

I remember in the early 90s seeing a book called "1994?" at a xian bookstore. Guess that was the wrong year :)
