Folding, spindeling, and mutilating lauguage for fun since Aug, 2004

I came across this little gem at Pharyngula:  Fox news is trumpeting the happy news that a study shows that religious kids are better behaved than non-religious kids.

I looked across the table at Grasshopper, who was stuffing his face with cereal for his after-school snack before diving into his homework.

Me:                    “I should have made you go to church when you were little.”

Grasshopper:   “What?!?”

Me:                     “This study says that you would be better behaved if I raised you with religion.”

I read the article to him.  He listens intently, a puckish grin growing on his face as I read.

Grasshopper:     “Well…”  he shrugs in an exaggeratedly careless way, “Too late now.”

Me:                       “Yeah.  Guess I’m stuck with you the way you are.”

Grasshopper:       “Yep.  Now, what can I start on fire?”

Theist kids may tend to be better behaved, but non-theist kids tend to be more entertaining.

In my experience with my kids' friends, the more "religious" they purported to be, the less "christian" they tended to behave. I've never raised our kids in the church (much to the horror of my family), but no one seems to have a problem with my kids' behavior... and no one could have a problem with yours!

Besides, an alter to the Flying Spaghetti Monster counts as religion, right? :-)

Noodly yours,

You know, you're RIGHT!! I just built one the other day. It was a beautiful pile of noodles, covered in the blessings of thick tomatoe sauce, and crowned in gloy with Italian meatballs.

Then we ate it,and were filled with a warm feeling of deep peace and happiness.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Gods I love that boy. THat reminds me, I've got this batch of homemade napalm and some road flares I don't have any immediate use for. WHens his birthday again ;) .

Oh and the FSM? Steve Jacksons Illuminator from a couple days ago had pics of an altar made entirely of Lego. See the link below.

Thanks for the link, Bob, that was pretty cool, but I was even more impressed by the church that site linked too.. Holy cow! I made some pretty cool stuff with Lego Blocks, but nothing like that!
