Folding, spindeling, and mutilating lauguage for fun since Aug, 2004

The other day Rocky and I were at a holiday party for the local chapter of a public-service club he belongs to.  Rocky has recently joined and is a very active member of this group.  I have helped out at a few (OK, one)of their functions, and came along as his guest to this dinner theater outing.

Anyway, we were at dinner when one of the ladies started talking about how she had once been at this party arguing with a “liberal” who ended up hitting on her.  She laughed, and made disparaging comments about how she could never date a “liberal”.

Later, as we were waiting to see the show, she was reminded in conversation of a different guy, a former member of the club.  She went off on a little rant about how when she was up for the presidency, he vocally opposed her as a candidate, and refused to vote for her because she was a woman.

Imagine!  This man actually thought that a woman had no place as the head of a public-service organization!  She was sooooo incensed. What a bigot he was.

I bit back the urge to say “Well, it could be worse, the group could be filled with liberals.”

I tell ya, I’m becoming the very picture of self-restraint.  J

Yowch. I applaud you for your restraint with this cow. I would have had a difficult time not introducing her to the dessert cart -- head first. You're a better woman than me, Gunga-Din.

I... think you may be just a tad oversocialized...
