I burned 1,011 calories on the elliptical jogger today  65 minutes...went a little over seven miles.

Then I came home and did a little cleaning, made dinner, and scooted off to Yoga.

Endorphins are good.

I hit my peak today at 45 minutes of 451 calories, and that's seriously sweaty puddles-on-the-floor cardio for me. You more than doubled that.

Rates: you 16.85 cal/min
me 10.02 cal/min

But at least I got to watch The Simpsons.

Also, I should point out that roughly two years ago I had been THRILLED with 500 calories in 45 minutes...which is not significantly more than you are doing right now...so if you continue, you will hit 1000/hour in roughly two and a half years.

Went for a run near my home before work this morning. It was perfect outside- 67 degrees, with just enough sun. The dew was still thick on the grass. Mr Bauer was in his fields preparing for the early morning berry picking "rush". I neglected to time myself or track numbers of calories burned, and forgot my ipod at home. I had literally no means to measure my progress. Except by the smile on my face. It was one of my best runs.

Like the one where Trees & I ran from our campsite to the small town a few miles down the road, while the kids provided bike-side pit crew services in return for old-fashioned parlor ice cream. Nary a complaint. Fun had by all. When you can keep your body moving, it's all good.

Yes, the beauty of nature and the simple pleasure of healthy physical activity are all very wonderful.

That Run Into Town from the State Park was fun indeed. It was my first eight-mile run, and it was so easy. I sure could have used some ice cream, too though. :-)

It made me laugh that Grasshopper and Panda girl were tired out, and I
felt ready to run it again. :-) Endorphins.

Still, for some of us, the numbers are critical. The trick is to not give them too much importance so that they don't backfire on us when they aren't what we want them to be.

The most important number, of course, it the number of days you stick to your plan and do the work consistantly. It's really the only number you have any real control over, and if you take care of that, the rest will follow.

And sometimes, in order to get your butt up on the machine, or out the door; you need loud, rage-inducing rock music.

Unless you're Sue, and then all you need is your spirituality, nature, and happy, fluffy bunnies. :-)

Not true. Yesterday the neighbor's dog went after a bunny in my yard & I heard her admonish the pup, to which I hollered, "Awwwww, now why'd you hafta stop 'im?!"

Bunnies may be fluffy, but when they're in my yard, it's survival of the fittest, baby. And I don't need a stopwatch to measure the results... If the bunny ends up dead, it means the dog was faster.

Sue,

You heartless bitch.

I KNEW there was a reason we've been friends for so long.

I've been forgetting my MP3 player a lot lately...or better stated, I don't think about it until I see everyone else out jogging or biking with wires coming out of their ears. The lakes and trees are pretty, and I usually have random thoughts going through my head to keep me busy, like: In Russian, the word "vodka" is "vodka", pronounced with a "v". In German, however, a language without the "w" sound (think "water"), they say "wodka". I don't get it. I just don't understand...

And other times, I get really bored and wish that I'd brought music!
