Rocky wrote a good blog entry about an A-hah!  moment he had reading a book called Connections on his way back frm Norway.

On a related note, our phone provider is Quest...which is good, as they seem to be the only ones who refused to collaborate with our government to violate our right to freedom of association.

If you go read the above link, make sure to note that the guy who put the kibosh on the government's request for the information is now under fire for insider trading, and had to step down.

Nice.

I LOVE James Burke!

If Rocky doesn't know about him, he has several book out along those same lines (I think I've got one of them). He's also made several TV series that are quite entertaining and informative. He narrates them all and that's a big part of the draw, he's really fun to listen to.

I've had to buy that book twice now because I kept loaning it to people who didn't give it back. *sigh*

What I REALLY want to know is why the NSA stuff is BACK in the headlines NOW. Look 90% of what is being put in the headlines now came out just after the first part of the NSA scandal broke. I seem to be having deja vu.

So for all those evil conspiracy theorists out there, think through the following dots.
1) Its an election year.
2) Bush has the approval ratings of a malaria outbreak.
3) Karl Rove moved to a let's keep the Republicans in power job.
4) Bush selects former NSA head to lead the CIA
5) USA Today (a *ahem* anti-Bush paper?) puts out a story trashing former head of said NSA.
6) Republican Senators and Congressmen get ruffled and can trash Bush's selection. They come out looking strong on terror but also strong on civil rights and the only political casualty is Bush (who won't be up for election any more).

Now, I leave you to make some "connections"
I can just see Rove in his black robes sniggering. (Bwahahahahaha!)
;-)
