Just thought I’d give a quick update of what is going on at the house

My grandfather was making frequent trips to the doctor for what appeared to be heart trouble…turned out to not be his heart at all, but due to his heart not getting enough oxygen because of blood loss due to a tumor in his colon.  He has surgery to remove the tumor.  It looks like they got it before it spread.  Looks like he’s going to be fine.

Rocky’s grandmother had a heart attack.  They wanted to do a test, and gave her some radioactive dye.  The radioactive dye killed her kidneys.  She passed away last week.  The funeral was Friday.

Rocky’s uncle was in the hospital due to fluid accumulating in his chest cavity.  He had to have the fluid drained.  He is out of the hospital now and is looking pretty good.

Rocky’s mother was on a couple of different medications, and due to the stress of all the family troubles, she got dehydrated and her kidneys stopped working.  She is currently in the hospital, but appears to be on the mend.

It’s been a tough month, and if we haven’t been the best friends in the world…please understand that it’s nothing personal.  A lot of stuff has fallen through the cracks this month.

As a family, when we got through times like this, we tend to duck out heads and get down to the business of getting through it.  It might not be the way everyone does things, but it works for us.  All we ask is for your understanding, patience, and generosity of spirit in giving us the benefit of the doubt if we seem to be insensitive or unresponsive.

*hugs* Your primarily responsibility is to yourself and your family! You take whatever time you need. Your friends will still be your friends.

I'll have to send a virtual hug, but you're all certainly in my thoughts.

I'm sorry to hear that so much of your family has been ill at once. How stressful. My sympathies to you and Rocky and the kids at the death of Rocky's grandmother. I give you virtual *hugs.*

You're not alone in this Trees. You were there for us and we're here for you. I know it's not your way but if you want to pick up the phone you know there's no such thing as too late to call our house for you and yours. Many hugs and deepest condolences on Rocky's gramma.

I don't have such a cohesive extended family, so any feelings of understanding I have probably don't quite match the actual circumstances. But I can second Wayne's virtual hug... and add a virtual fruit basket.

You never have to apologize for taking care of your family... especially not to your friends. Our deepest sympathies to Rocky, you, the boys and the rest of Rocky's family. Our best wishes go towards the continuing recovery of Rocky's mother and uncle.

Tony and I know far too many people who have gone through sad times this month - just waiting for February to end.

I just reread my comment and realized I left out your grandfather, Trees. Our get-well wishes extend to him, too!

Still laughing about the virtual fruitbasket. I mean, that's good stuff. It's a good friend who can make you laugh when the stuff hits the fan.

Trees, don't apologize to anyone for your family pulling together in a tough time. If you want space- you've earned full right to it. And when you need something- anything- from any of us- just say the word, and you'll be on the Jimmy Stewart end of the all-time sappiest Christmas movie ever. (Hah! Now you'll haveta watch the damn thing to know what I'm rambling about.)
