A couple of really dumb burglers displayed the typical brain-dead American approach to guns.  In other words, thinking of them as magical boom-sticks that make them all-powerful, without giving any thought to the fact that they are just a tool and only as good as the person holding onto them...

...so, how'd that work out for them?

They got themselves filled full of holes by their own weapons.  The unarmed suburbanites that they were trying to burgle disarmed them and turned the weapons against them.  The assumption is, that they (the suburbanites) will not be charged.

Booyah.

Ha HA!! Booyah, indeed!

This must be very near the top of the Very Stupid Things To Do list: Threaten a mothers children with deadly force.

If you're not ready to pull the trigger, don't put the gun in your hands...

Good on them for having the fortitude to fight back. And good on the police in Ft. Worth for not charging them with a crime.

Mark,

Tha only way they would be charged with a crime under the common law is if the police believed that they did not have to shoot the burglers to protect themselves...or if the guns belonged to them and were not properly registered. The only way they would be convicted is if the prosecution could prove that a they did not act in self-defense.

Do you know, every case that I have come across in the gun forums where someone was supposedly charged with shooting a burgler has turned out to be untrue? Either the case didn't happen in the U.S. even though they claimed it did (one case was a homeowner killing a burgler with a knife in Britian as the man was fleeing his house. I ask you...what does that have to do with self-defense gun laws in the U.S.?

Others were variously that they were charged with tampering with evidence, or owning the gun illegally, or not having it properly registered...not with killing in self-defense. Which is why I think guns-rights activists are insane. They are all charged up over an issue that does not exsist.

I have asked repeatedly on this blog if anyone can find even one case of someone being charged or convicted of killing a burgler in their home. Nobody has come forward with a single instance.
