[update:  Now we know what the Republicans think of Joe-the-plumber, and Joe-the-waiter.  But here's what they think of Josaphine-the-911-operator;  Apparently, she can go "$%^" herself.  Also, Joe-the-little-kid-who-went-to-his-teacher's-wedding"...]

(Hat Tips: Pharyngula and Some Amusing Blog Pun)

Google Neil Simpson, and "hurry up to ensure that all waitstaff vote for mccain".

It is proof that the conservatives don't understand the Obama plan.  Under Obama's plan, people who make under $250,000 will get a tax cut. (note:  I changed the previously erroneous "$150,000 to $250,000)

So, to demonstrate how this is bad, Neal fantasizes about how much fun it would be to tell the waitstaff that he will give all of their tips to homeless people instead.

Unless you know some waiters who make more than $250,000 in a year, I'm thinkin that the only thing this will demonstrate to the waitstaff is that Republicans are mean-spirited dick-wads in their real life too.

Although, Neal once again shows his moderate side by acknowledging that the waitstaff earn their tips, rather than treating it as charity (or tipping really well only if they wanted to ask you out, and then never tipping again when you say you are married) like most of the openly religious conservative customers I encountered in my time working as waitstaff (personal favorites, the ones who left religious tracts in leiu of monetary tips).

And he thinks that this will convince them to vote against the guy who says he'll give them a tax cut.

Now, I think it is more likely that Obama will not actually be able to pull off the tax cut for the middle class because there will be too many Republicans in Congress and they will get in the way...

...or it is possible that he is only touting the tax-cut to blow smoke up the skirts of the working class...

but if you take what his plan actually says it will do...it will let the waiter keep more of his tips, and just make the upper 1% pay more of their fair share.

And what our dear friend Neil won't say is that John McCain voted against minimum wage hikes 19 out of 24 times.

I manage to avoid He Of Whom You Speak since his embarrassing time on these pages unless you point him out... any time I venture near his site he's up to the same tired schtick - garden-variety anti-American Christian Supremacist hate-monger. His veneer of relative politeness does not in any way hide the knife behind every evil smile.

I link to him on occasion just to annoy him. He thinks my blog is pornographic, so I find it amusing that by linking to him, his blog is only one link away from gay porn. :) That and a group of my friends regularly email around snippets of funny stuff off the web/blogs/etc., and his site and some other fundie blogs always provide plenty of hilarious fodder.

And it isn't a bad idea to know what the other side is "thinking" on occasion.

But yeah, definitely have to bathe in Lysterine after reading over there.

Alan,

I used to link to him 'cause he's prime example of Conservative thought...classic.

However...I stopped linking to him because he called it "stalking" on his blog, and considered it harrassment, which if that's the way he felt, stalked and harrassed, there's no sense in contributing to that...but this was just too darned good to pass up.

Such a classic example.

There was a time when Conservative did not equate to Religious Far Right (i.e. wing nuts).

Sigh - I have no political home.

Mark,

There there, *pat pat on the shoulder* there, there...it could be worse, they could have complete supremacy over the Constitutional and Libertarian parties too...oh, yeah...sorry.

*ducking and running*

But seriously, the Minnesota DFL is running a pro-life pro-drilling, pro-stay-in-Iraq-forever fiscal conservative to counter the even more conservative Republican for RINO Ramstad's seat...so pretty soon we'll ALL be politically homeless...and probably literally homeless as well. I'll save the refridgerator box next to ours for you...

Alan,

Your blog is "pornographic"?? Hm... I think I get why; it's because the Apple, whose logo you use, is a symbol of Man's Rise From Stupidity (or "Fall from Grace") in Das Bibel and there are references to *gasp* nakedness! in that story. No wonder creotards get twitchy...
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 2:47:33 PM (Central Standard Time, UTC-06:00)
Yeah, it's pretty hard to see where the pornography comes in, I'm afraid, so if you are all clicking over to my blog to look at the hot man-on-man action, I'm afraid you're going to be severely disappointed (or extremely relieved). Unless, that is, you consider seeing me in a Marvin the Martian costume hot. And if you do, I'd really rather not know about it. Srsly.

But what's hilarious is that my site statistics show Neil (and I know it's him because the incoming link comes from the password protected site counter on his blog) stops by my blog regularly. I can only assume to look at the "porn" on my blog. *shudder* He must be "stalking" me. LOL

One can hardly blame him, though. After all, he is only human, and I am, as the kids say, "Fierce." Fierce, indeed.

Mark: You know, if Republicans were actually conservative , I'd totally be a Republican. Small, responsible and responsive government that mostly gets out of people's way? Sign me up! Instead the only thing we get from them is small government for big business, and Big Brother for the little guy. And an entire political party of busybodies and fusspots who want nothing better than to tell you how to raise your kids, what to watch on TV, etc. Ugh.

Teresa - our buddy, the one who's name is verboten (sp), Neil (oops) is going on about Obama's charitable giving, meaning the lack thereof. I had to point out to him that McCain's record is far, far, worse. But I'm sure mine is a strawman argument, so it won't matter.

Mark,

I know...you know, one of the things that sort of gets me is that they are judging Obama's "generosity" on tax returns. Many liberal charities also lobby for improved laws or are otherwise politically active in addition to trying to directly solce a problem, so you can't get tax-deductions for them.

On the other hand, if a conservative gives $5,000 to his Mega-church to build a fitness center that he himself will use...that's called a "charity" and he gets to not only deduct it from his taxes, but then turn around and claim that the liberal who gave $5,000 to the ACLU is "uncharitable".

this doesn't even go into the time-and-talent issue. Many lawyers do pro-bono work and loads of other activities (serving on caritable boards) that doesn't count.

grrrr...

BTW, Mark, I know youa re not an Obama fan, and I appreciate your sense of fairness on many issues.

I meant to put (liberal and conservative) after the "lawyers" above...for instance, my SiFu is a religious conservative lawyer...(not like, evil religious conservative...just your ordinary, garden-variety religious conservative) I know for a fact that he has served on one very good charitable board here in the Twin Cities: Missing Children Minnesota. A charity that I also support both with contributions and some small donation of time and talent (such as it is).

I bet if you looked at his charitable deductions, they would fall short of %10 of his gross income...but if you added in all of the things that he does for people outside of that, you would never in a million years be able to argue that he lacks generosity.

I hope no one goes fishing in my tax returns for charitable contributions. They won't find any. I can't claim 'em.

Personally I think trumpeting charitable contributions as some sort of proxy for one's amazingly ginormous piety is sort of like praying loudly on the street corner ... something specifically condemned in the Bible.

Rick...we really need some quality control.

In DER Bibel

(If anyone is curious "Bibel" is feminine in German - and dative in our example here. If it were *das Bibel, then it would have to be neuter nominative or accusative. It used to have the form "biblie", which looks like other feminine nouns in German of the Middle Ages. It was taken from the latin plural form "biblia", meaning 'books'. That in turn came from a Greek word related to papyrus.)

:)

Karen,

I was wondering if you could give me a run-down on the history and derivation of the word "Pedantic"?

:-)

LOL just kidding.
