Some progressives wondered what the hell Bono thought he was doing, going to talk to corporate mega churches about global warming and global social justice.  Personally, I didn't figure he would find fertile ground there.  [oops, my mistake.  It appears that his tour of mega-churches was to talk about the global AIDS pandemic at any rate, the point stands; it appears that at least SOME mega church pastors and congregations are open to messages that are challenging to their faiths]

Of course, Bono has always had some weird associations.  Anyone remember his little world tour with "W"'s Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neill?

He doesn't appear to mind risking something being a waste of his time...and I guess it pays off.

Evangelical Leaders Join Global Warming Initiative

By LAURIE GOODSTEIN

Published: February 8, 2006

Despite opposition from some of their colleagues, 86 evangelical Christian leaders have decided to back a major initiative to fight global warming, saying "millions of people could die in this century because of climate change, most of them our poorest global neighbors."

So there you have it.  Sometimes it pays to be a little bit crazy.
