Just heard this 30-second blurb on CNN about:
David Chalmers, head of Bay Oil Corporation, a Texas-based oil company.
He is accused of paying Saddam Hussain illegal “surcharges” on top of the prices allowed by the UN Oil For Food Program.
So. While Saddam may not have been a threat, he certainly is defined by our government as an “enemy” of our country, and certainly qualified during the time when the oil-for-food program was going on. If he was ever going to someday have something that could be interpreted as looking like it might possibly be a WMD program...that's probably where he would have gotten the money for it.
The story made no mention of when we can expect to hear about David Chalmer’s treason trial for his alleged activities. There wasn't even any conjecture on wether or not it could be treason. There was no analysis of the different tactics the investigators might be using to pursue this case further to see what other facts might arise.
This story was about ¼ the length and detail of the preceding segment on the Michael Jackson trial (which included an artist’s rendition of the mother pantomiming Jackson licking her child on the head). There was a fair amount of conjecture and commentary on the probable mental state and believability of the mother, and what the jury must be thinking.
Before that still, they had not one but TWO anchors covering the phenomenon of Video Golf.
What was I thinking when I finished watching my TiVo’d Daily Show with Jon Stewart and thought I needed to get more news? I get better news, insight and analysis from a COMEDY SHOW that has way too much poopy humor for my liking.
Dudes…that’s…fucked up…verbing donkey nouns doesn’t even begin to cover it.
But that Jon Stewart is a real cutie…and knows how to get to work with his Peabody-award-winning bad self.
